A Task-Oriented Web Service Discovery Algorithm Using Semantic Similarity for Adaptive Service Composition

In order to achieve an adaptive and good performance service composition, this paper proposes a task-oriented web service discovery algorithm using semantic similarity for adaptive service composition. The approach divides the process of service composition into semantic discovery and functional matching and takes tasks as operation objects. A task-oriented web service discovery algorithm is designed to take use of semantic similarity to discover services matching a specific task and generate corresponding task-oriented web service composition graph. After that, the graph is searched to get a QoS optimal path of functional matching which in turn outputs the final service composition. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithms and indicate that maximum searching radius could be set to 2 to achieve an equilibrium point of quality and quantity.
